Default Help please! CSA - Garden Verandah Suites

We are going to Swept Away early April - first time ever to a Couples Resort so very excited about it! We have been booked into a "double room" by our travel agent which I guess is a standard room. Would this be a GVS? If so, and anyone has stayed here are they of a good standard or is it worth us upgrading to another type. Atrium rooms seem to be very popular with contributors to the forum.

the GVS are fine. Our friends liked the GVS more then the atruim; we love the atruim. Some complain of road noise, we didn't hear any inside room. Our only complaint with room was we had a cheap nylon beach chair on our patio. If you can afford to upgrade and not loose any nights go for it, if you can't afford it don't worry, how much time are you going to be in your room for the sake of just being in your room. And just one of the great things about Couples is it doesn't matter what room category you book, everyone gets the same access to restaurants and water sports.

Gvs are the cheapest rooms and still very nice btw. All rooms have king beds. Find out EXACTLY what room category she booked. There is no way of knowing now which room you have, just thr category. I don't think "double room" is a possibility. I've stayed in the gvs 3 times and will next April. If you'd like s couple of pics email me at clemonssara40@gmail.com

Garden verandah are very nice rooms they are closer to the road and do receive some negative feedback on that. We have been to CSA multiple times and this is the category we book and love it.

It is probably a Great House Veranda (GHV) room since they are the entry level ones. They are more "hotel" like than any of the others at CSA. Personally I would upgrade if you can.. The Atriums are our favourites since they in the original section and therefore are so much more tropical in atmosphere and have a wonderful veranda complete with hammock. However just a one room upgrade to a Garden Veranda (GVS) would IMHO give you a much better experience than any room in the Great House.

Me and my wife had the GVS back last May and we loved our room and patio. We ended up requesting during checkin that if they had any ground level rooms we would like that one. The ground floor was suggested by the kind people on this forum because you could order roomservice in the morning and they would just sit the coffee and food on your patio table and you didn't have to get up to let them in!!, also you could get a patio key for 20$ and have access from the front and back of your room, a huge convienance. (You do get the 20$ back if you return the key and don't lose it) Our friends both upgraded to the Atrium and they also enjoyed their room. We are returning in May again and although our other returnee friends have upgraded once again to the BFV, me and the missus are fine again with the GVS!! Just a word of advice incase you didn't know, Atriums do not have a TV if that is something that matters, most it don't when your sights and sounds of paradise are better then any tv program!!

Contact your agent and find out what she is calling a double room. As Soft has stated, double might not be a possibility as there is no such room cat. Make sure she booked Swept Away. Good luck.

What my wife and I say, If your in Jamaica to stay in your room, your vacationing at the wrong place. We slept and showered in the GVS and thats it. Everything else was enjoying the beach and the Jamaican beauty. The room was great. Trust me, Save the money and stay longer. Thats what we do!! Have fun, you'll be amazed by everything!!!

I have found out that the "double room" relates to entry level - Great House Verandah Suite - you were right Dawn!

I think I will be making enquiries about an upgrade as it would be good to be in a garden room to feel like we are really in Jamaica.

I love this message board, it's a great way of finding out about the Resort, so thank you all for your helpful tips.

Hi Kelly, we were in the same position. Going for two weeks March/April. Quoted 672 and 784 for room upgrade to garden or ocean verandah suite respectively.

The great house are not that bad. to give you an idea they are above patois and in the same building as casino, night club, and internet cafe. If you are unable to upgrade don't worry about it. everything will be alright as many have mentioned your room is for sleep, rinse, and repeat.

Beware, you might love the view from the Greathouse, I would check it out first. Some rooms have really nice views of the ocean.

Garden Verandahs are actually less expensive than the Great House Verandah so wouldn't be an upgrade. In early April the GVS are $20/pp/week less than the GHVS.

We stayed in and loved the Atriums - these are approx. $30/pp/week more than the GHVS.

I have been in the Great House (great view) and GVS and would happily go back to either. We're trying an atrium on our next trip (in 119 days). We are working our way up the food chain, but to be honest, there is nothing wrong at all with a GVS. Have fun!

You are right, I've just checked and Couples list GVS as entry level but other TAs (Thomson for example) show GVS as an upgrade and GHVS as entry level. confusing!

We prefer the GVS, but like the new section better because they are more updated and closer to the swim up bar. Purely a preference for us there. Some will say you hear road noise but we have never experienced this. I can see where a top floor room may if they left the bathroom window open but we keep ours closed and the AC up. To me it's more privacy on the GVS row of rooms. The beachfront gets more foot traffic and there's only a short distance between all the rooms. It's not worth the money to me to upgrade. If you like drinking your coffee on the porch and seeing the ocean you may like it better. We enjoy walking through the resort and you can see more of it from the GVS rooms. The insides are identical though so location is the only difference.

Looks like you got a good response here. In case you would like more photos email me at jonesx5usmc@hotmail.com and I will send you some. Our only thing with the room is I'm a light sleeper and could hear the cars and horns blowing from the street at night. Other then that they were great. Also have been told you can get a patio key if your on the first floor, which makes for great room access.

Thank you all for your great replies. Our TA want to charge quite a bit extra to have a GVS (which is confusing since they appear to be at least the same level or slightly lower cost-wise to the GHVS!) We have contacted the Resort staff and logged a preference for a GVS, but otherwise we are going to leave things as they are and see what is available when we check in. If we have to stay in a GHVS then so be it, as some of you have rightly said we are there for the CSA experience and not the room!

SWJones- I will email you for the photos though.

54 days to go... and counting!

Good luck with your trip! I wish we were going back in 54 days lol.

Oh and a piece of unsolicited advice, get a new travel agent!

We just use websites to book our trips. We also do our own research and are realistic with respect to our expectations. Cheers!
