Default Is Club MoBay worth it?

My boyfriend and I are going to couples in the beginning of April and I'm not sure if we should get the club mobay thing. Is it worth it? Do you really get through customs that much faster? Or should we just go through customs the regular way and go to the couples lounge?

It wasn't worth it to us. There was no lines at customs in Dec 2013 when we were there.

I think it's like the trip insurance better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it. And lot depends on when your landing, a Saturday afternoon is going to be worse then a Tuesday morning. Also depends on how well you wait. If waiting is one of those things that upsets you get the pass. These are things that only you can decide Either way you need to check in with the Couples Lounge. Happy travels

We always get the arrival and departure service. We've arrived at MBJ when it was practically empty and another time we waited 2 hours in line in Immigration! Never again! Don't want to waste the first few moments of my vacation waiting in line! The departure lounge is very nice too with its wide assortment of food and open bar! I have my last rum punch of vacation at the Club Mobay departure lounge! Have a great trip!

It's a gamble. Used it last Mar. Arriving worth it. Departing not really. Going this week and have booked it again. Wasn't going to but nice knowing don't have to stand in a line. Have stood in some pretty long ones over the years so personally I prefer it.

I'm here now! Used Club Mobay on thurs. For the first time. Without it I would have been waiting in line for approx 45 -60 mins. And that was a so-so day at the airport. I was on my way in a shuttle within 30 mins. And that was after I had a rum punch in the lounge. Hope this helps.

Thank you for asking this. I was wondering the same thing. We are going in May. We already added Club Mobay but our travel agent said she could take it off. I didn't even realize Couples had a lounge at the airport until after we booked.

Me and my wife went last year...but we did not do the Club Mobay. I really thought about it...but decided not to do it. I'm glad we didn't spend the extra money. We arrived I'm thinking it was noonish on a Sat in April and we didn't have any problems. I figured if there was lines "no problem mon". Just take whatever you trip throws at you and enjoy. Don't concentrate on the little hiccups. Your on vacation.

As far as booking it in advance for departure from Jamaica...
We booked in advance for departure once and got to Sangster to find no lines anywhere. We decided then that for departures in the future we will wait because you can look into the TSA/Customs hall to see how crazy it is and the desk to buy Club Mobay departure is right there. You can decide of it's worth it based on what you see in there. The price is maybe $5 higher to book at the airport desk, but to me better than paying the full price and finding no lines at all.

What I said above does not hold for arrivals since you either book in advance or do without. If we travel in high season or arrive on a Friday or Saturday we book the arrival only and then decide as above about the departure. We arrive at Sangster in about a month or so and have booked arrival service.

If having to wait would ruin your day... just book it. Like someone above said... "better to have it and not need it", esp if you just can't stand being in the lines.
We have been going to Jamaica for like 28 years and tend to deal with the lines fairly well if it happens.
    Best of luck!

    Hi,
As have already been indicated -- it depends. We have used it and generally have not felt the value was there for us. But, we usually arrive on a mid-week day early and almost never have any line. On the departure, we enjoy taking a little time and looking in the shops at the airport and that does not leave a lot of time to take advantage of the Club Mobay lounge. The couple of times that we have used it, I would say they do a very nice job. If we were to use it now, we would most likely only use the departure. You may want to use it a couple of times to see if the value for you. It does make you feel special when you depart the plane and see someone standing there holding your name and giving you the VIP treatment. They do first take you to the Couples lounge (right next door) to check in and then over to the Club Mobay arrival lounge.

We used Mo-bay on our last trip and for us it is well worth it. You have your own person who meets you makes sure you have all paperwork you need, brings you right to the front of the line, and before you know it you are on your way, while everyone else is waiting in line struggling with paperwork and getting frustrated. Coming home the departure lounge is worth the money alone. Couches, food, drinks, and air conditioning. Beats the hell out of sitting in the airport. We booked to return May 13th of this year and will use Mo-bay again without a second thought!

So, after they help you through immigration and customs, you go to the Couples Lounge?

We used it this past December and will use it again in September. Lines were not long arriving, but I like the peace of mind knowing I don't have to deal with lines. Really enjoyed the departure lounge and my last red stripe. Will always use the service both ways.

We have flown into MOBay ten times and never had a long wait. I also love Couples lounge and I enjoy shopping in the airport on the departure flight. I do not see the need for Club Mo-bay. I am also the person who enjoys the Couples shuttle bus to the resort. You meet great people.

You can hang out either at Mo bay or the Couples lounge or between the two. Normally once you are through customs you have just a few min. before you go too the bus.

To each their own, but I really don't see much of a benefit. On arrivals, the longest lines are when going through immigration. And, even if you can get through immigration faster, you still have to wait for your luggage before customs. There have been times that we were in line for 30-45 minutes in immigration, but still had to wait for our luggage to be unloaded. And customs goes pretty quick so the lines are not usually very long. And even if you get through customs faster, you typically need to wait for the rest of the people on your flight to check in at the lounge before the shuttle will leave. Plus the drinks are free at the lounge anyway.

We don't like to use much of our time at the resort on shopping so during departures are when we usually do our shopping for souvenirs and such. We have found a wide variety of items to choose from there, plus the prices are very reasonable there compared to the Couples shops. And then we'll finish our time with a stop at one of the establishments for a final Red Stripe and snack before the flight.

My Jamaican experience begins the second I step off the plane on arrival and ends the second I step on the plane at departure. In between those times, I am on Jamaican time. No worries, no stress, no need to rush rush rush. Just relax and enjoy the whole Jamaican experience.

Thank you for all of the replies! this helps a lot. We're arriving on a Wednesday around 12:45, so I think we'll just take our chances and see what happens.

We just returned from CTI this week. For us, Club MOBAY was worth every penny.

When we arrived on Sunday, February 16th, the Club Mobay agents met us near our airplane. They checked our papers and escorted us to the Customs and Immigration area. This area was packed! I would estimate between 1000 to 1200 people waiting in line. We walked around the lines to a special VIP desk where we were next. We picked up our luggage and went to another area with at least a few hundred people waiting in line. Again, we walked around all of these people to a special VIP line where we were next. They had us from the airplane door to the Couples Lounge in about 15 to 20 minutes. Had we not used Club MOBAY this would easily have taken well over 2 hours.

The return trip was just as nice. VIP lines with no waiting. The VIP lounge was nice. We gave our flight information when we checked in. They announced our flight boarding in plenty of time to get to our gate.

At least for us, I consider Club MOBAY was worth every penny, especially during the middle of the main tourist season, about mid January to mid April.

Only about 720 more days until we return to Couples. It takes us a while to save up for our trip.

We used Club Mobay ourselves,, Mid February,, Just like JIM Pat stated,, we came to bottom of ramp,, Met By Club Mobay personel, Breezed past i bet 200 people waiting in Immigration line,, Picked up our bags, onto Couples lounge,, Checked in, Was Greeted by Couples staff, WELCOME HOME,, as this was a 2nd Couples trip for us Our plane touched dwn on beautiful island time at 2;30pm
Several people have ask is it worth it?? Every penny,, Unless your thing is standing in line waiting versus getting on to your vacation /relaxation time quicker

Just got back from CN. We did Mobay there and back and was definitely worth it. On arrival the immigration hall was packed to the ramp, but we were escorted past everyone (got some dirty looks) to the express line where there were only 3 other couples ahead of us. Then again thru security where they didn't even ask us anything. Dropped our bags at the couples lounge and went to Mobay lounge until they called us to inform us the shuttle was ready( we were the only 4 on the bus). For departure they bring you to the airport 3 hours ahead of time so the lounge was handy even tho it was packed. All in all we would definitely use the service again.

I am loving all this feedback that this thread is getting. We too plan on using ClubMobay for our return. We have never used it before, so we will try it out and see if it was worth it. Right now the only negative I have read is the extra money it adds to your trip. I do have a question....Do you tip the person that picks you up at arrival and takes you through the lines? And if yes what is a good tip.
    Thanks for any answers!!
