wanted to post a couple comments and tips -

-food was outstanding in all venues, I would rate it 4-5 stars
-our room and everywhere in the entire resort, including all the furniture, appeared freshly painted
-the veggie bar had outstanding selections every day and you didn't need to be a health nut to appreciate the quality or selection of food
-the pool grill had amazing jerk chicken, burgers, fries, etc and is open till 5am with a small break through the night
-the entire staff are clearly professionally trained and are committed to helping you have the best vacation, they understand your preferences and choices early in the week and cater to you the rest of the week, they knew where we wanted to sit whether it was a reservation restaurant or not, when we mentioned our name, they took us to a table that suited our preferences, this is a small thing, but it was important to us as my husband works long hours and we value our time together
-excursions/activities, we went to Dunns river falls which was in itself outstanding, the hotel used it's mini bus to get us there, they paid all the fees and we arrived and returned only paying tips, it was a great process, diving was twice a day, the snorkel boat went out once due to conditions, the sunset catamaran went as scheduled but picked up in town due to water conditions, we didn't do these things but everyone who did raved about them
-the owner of Couples owns 4 hotels, 2 in negril and 2 in ochi, each of his four kids run one of the four resorts, i met the manager of CTI, he was humble and only concerned with how our vacation was going and whether he could do anything to make it better
-I strongly suggest you read the hard cover guide in your room to better understand the resort, their environmental program is admirable, their practice of only hiring local staff is a community-minded, the guide provides tips for events and services that you might not otherwise know about, because we read this book one afternoon before dinner, we gave a modest donation on our check out bill to the Issa family foundation in recognition of their community work
-the wines offered as a part of the package price are ok but we knew from a friend who visited earlier this year that there was a second wine list for which you pay, we ended up always ordering from this wine list and as a result we enjoyed wines that are twice the price in Canada due to taxes and duties but half the price in Jamaica
-last point, room locations, there are 5 room blocks, if you stand in the ocean and look at the resort, block 1 is furthest left while block 5 is furthest right, we were in block 2 which could have been noisy as saturday and friday nights the band set ups under block 2, but we were at the party so it didn't matter, it would be difficult if you were trying to sleep, the same goes for block 4 which is near the swim up pool bar which gets noisy in the afternoon due to pool games, block 3 is the block above the business rooms, lobby, etc and was recommended to us by 19 and 20 year guests, we stayed in our block 2 room and had no problems, but next time we would book block 3
-a great vacation, a beautiful resort, and an admirable business operations concept, we're looking at returning to try another one of the couples resorts.
