Default Horseback Riding Options at CTI

Does anyone know what the options are for horseback riding at CTI? What days? What times do they leave the resort? When do they get back to the resort? How long are the rides? Thanks

There are two rides a day, 8:15 and 11:00. I think it's most days if not daily. The ride itself is only about an hour, but the entire trip is about two, including the wait times. Halfway through the ride, you get off for a nice little surprise. We had a great time. Just don't expect a thrilling gallop through the jungle.

Another thing. They will be taking pictures before, during and after the ride, and offer to sell you a picture CD. It includes a lot of other pictures of the plantation that you normally wouldn't get. We paid $15 for it. Maybe too much, but it was worth it to us. It complemented the pictures we took ourselves.

They go to two different places. One is plantation tour, the best, and the other is at Chuka tours. Ask before you sign up. The plantation tour rocks, the other is OK. The rides are about hour long. Bring your camera they will take pictures for you.

I saw a post a wile back that there are two options for horseback riding at CTI. It stated to do the "Plantation" ride. Are the 8:15 and 11:00 rides different?

We did the included horseback ride while at CTI last April. There were two rides a day, one morning (around 8:30) and the other afternoon (around 1:30) - though don't quote me on the time (when in Jamaica you're on Jamaican time). Essentially they are from after breakfast to before lunch or after lunch to before dinner rides. We chose the morning one having heard it was better since it can get a little warm in the afternoon. Total time away from the resort was 2-3 hours. From what we were told both were a plantation ride. We enjoyed the one we took as you do go to a point where you overlook the ocean and can see Ocho Rios in the distance. The only drawback was that they mandate you wear a riding helmet (I suppose I should appreciate their looking after my safety instead of my comfort). As Janicek noted there is a point mid-way through where you dismount and experience a real taste of Jamaica. There are non-included horseback riding excursions you can purchase through the tour desk. We chose the one put on by an outfit called "Hooves" which was a platation ride down to the ocean...and yes, you do get to run the horses through the surf (definately something to do if you've never done it before). We did not do the horseback riding through Chuka since they mandate you wear riding helmets.
Anyhow, enjoy your visit to CTI and horseback riding adventure.

Excellent feedback I'm reading here. Wally, seems like you're going to be doing this, so I'll really be looking forward to your post-visit review. Not only for the horseback riding, but you're also doing the Ochi-Negril split if I recall. So I'm going to be all eyes when you return and post your review.

Reading is fundamental. It's just that for some, it's more mental than fun.
