Thread: False Eyelashes

    Default False Eyelashes

I want to wear false lashes on my wedding day. I don't know if I should have them done before arriving in Jamaica or does the salon do them? Any info from anyone who wore them on their wedding day would be great.

I am planning on having eyelash extensions done, but I do plan on having a trial run first a few months prior just to make sure they are not a pain. If I don't do eyelash extensions I will just put on fake ones for the day of the wedding.

I've never had eyelash extension but I have had the false ones done. The lady that does mine here in the states does a really good job. I want them to look fresh for the wedding so that's why I can't decide what to do.

mstravelbug, how long do they usually last. That might help you decide. Factor in how long they last and when your wedding day is once you arrive.

Is there any way you can put them on yourself?

I was thinking about getting the extensions for my wedding. Can you tell me about how much those cost and how long they last? Thanks

There is a big difference between lash extensions and having false lashes applied. The false lashes I get done at my nail salon are only like $30 dollars. You can get them done short, medium, or long. I usually just go with medium. I had them done for my brother's wedding last year and they lasted 2 weeks. But having them done while going on vacation is another story. I'm sure you would lose a few lashes trying to swim. Either way they look so nice and really make your eyes pop in my opinion.

    Hi All,

I was married at Couples Swept Away in December. Overall, I was very happy, but one sticking point was the salon service. I paid to have staff from the salon help me get ready in my room (make-up, eyelashes, and hair), which wasn't cheap. The young lady was very nice, but I ended up doing my own make-up and eye lashes. She had never applied eyelashes, and I was more skilled at applying my make-up. I didn't say anything to the salon because it was my wedding day, and I was in such a great place.

I invested in about $350 worth of make-up from Mac, and it was well worth it. I also had Mac train me on applying the eyelashes and make-up. I'm so happy I invested or my make-up probably wouldn't have turned out as good as it did on my wedding day.

I would suggest stopping by your local Mac store or another make-up counter. Mac's #7 eyelashes are great and natural. The #3 eyelashes are also great, but more dramatic.

    Good luck!

I hate to sound like a diva but I really wanted the smokey eye look for my wedding. But after reading Cat1865 post I don't think the salon will know how to do that. I don't want to end up looking like a raccoon. I had already planned on bring my own makeup (MAC) I'm just not that great at applying it. I would love to hear from more brides that had hair and makeup done at the salon.

Thanks for the good advice, I was thinking about having someone show me the proper way to apply my make up for that day.

I have done a little research on the eyelash extensions because I will be having them done. Depending on where you live eyelash extensions can cost anywhere from $100-$300. The partial set is $100 and that only puts lashes where you are bare and such. The full set is around $300 and they give you a full look. They say....that they can last 3-6 weeks. I am not sure about this because our lashes go through a shedding cycle every 28 days so the lashes that are attached may come out too. Even if they last 28 days they still may be worth it!I actually found a place that does them for $90 so I am nervous to see how they turn out.

    Hi Cat1865,
I have been asking around about MAC. How do you like MAC? I want something that will hold up in the heat and humidity.

Cat - If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for hair and makeup from the salon? I'm debating if I want to use Queen Bee aka Scissors Salon for my wedding day or go with the resort salon.

    Default Mac Make-Up

To answer the question about Mac make-up, it held up extremely well in the heat. It also gave a finished, natural look - perfect for the wedding day. For foundation - I used the mineralize satifinish and mineralize skinfinish to set it. For concealer, I bought the select cover-up. Mac also has a range of great blush and eye shadow colors. For eyelashes, I bought the plush lash and then finished it with the #7 fake eyelashes. Other buys included brushes (they have few collections for about $50), spiked eyebrow pencil, and eyeliner. I would suggest finding an experienced Mac specialist that really understands what will look good on your skin and what will give you a finished, natural look. Sometimes, Mac specialists can go for the clown look, which you want to avoid. Good luck!

I would do a trial set before the wedding. When is your wedding by the way?
