Default First timers to CTI w/ couple of questions

My husband and I will be at CTI July 1-8 and have a couple of questions...

    1. Do we need to pack closed toe shoes or tennis shoes for horseback riding?

    2. Is there a restocking fee for the mini-bar?

    3. Is there anything that we should make sure we do oustide of the resort excursions, etc?

Is anyone else staying at CTI during July 1-8? We are so excited about coming we can hardly contain ourselves. It is going to be a long 4 1/2 months.....

Not required but i would have them if you go riding

No charge to restock mini bar. You can get any beverage you want

Dunn's river falls should not be missed, but only go on a day when there are no cruise ships in port and avoid the craft village as you depart the falls to the parking lot
the craft village is a very bad place to visit

    2. Is there a restocking fee for the mini-bar? No no fees for restocking. I'm assuming you are in a suite as those are the only rooms with mini bars at CTI.

    3. Is there anything that we should make sure we do oustide of the resort excursions, etc? Dunn's River is good as is the Plantation horseback ride. We did not care for the other horseback ride. The catamaran cruise is always fun too. Shopping isn't bad, but most of what you see you can pick up at the resort or at the airport on your way home.

If you get the chance, take the power walk. It goes up the hillside and you get a chance to see some "real" Jamaica. (Again you will need sneakers but it is well worth it. They also do a nature walk that isn't as rigorous, but you can still see some of the "real" Jamaica.

Closed toe shoes like tennis shoes will make the horse back riding trip more enjoyable. Also jeans are nice wear.

They restock the mini bar everyday at no cost, min bars are in the suites only.

Must things to do: Cat Cruise, Dunns River falls, horse back riding, and the island.

We aren't in a suite so I guess we won't have to worry about the minibars.... Thanks for the other information I appreciate it greatly. Now if July would come fast we would be set!!!

We just got back from our 2nd trip to Couples Swept Away in Negril. Cannot think of anywhere else we would rather vacation!! You will have a very relaxing and wonderful time. Closed toe shoes for the horseback riding and long pants.

Make sure you do the Cat cruise and take pictures of all of the wonderful sunsets!!! Have a blast!!!!!

    Default July 1-8

We will be at CTI July 1-8. We plan to get married while there. We just booked our trip 2 hours ago and definitely looking forward to it. I have never been to an island so this is a new adventure for me.

What rooms did you all book? We will be flying in from Orlando on Air Tran and we booked a "Deluxe" room.

We plan to do the Horseback riding and the Dunn's River Fall tour.

Planning on being there in May. So is the horseback riding that is included in the all inclusive not the same as the Plantation one? I'm assuming that is the case. FYI this will be our first time to a resort in the Caribbean let alone a Couples resort!

Haven't seen a lot of discussion on these two activities and we intend to participate in each. I take it both walks involve leaving the resort....are we escorted by a staff member or just shown where to go and we head out on our own?

My husband and I just returned from CTI. BEAUTIFUL! Yes, you do need to have long pants and closed-toed shoes for horseback riding. As for the mini-bar, they are only in suites and not in all of the rooms. And a MUST do is Dunn's River Falls. They offer an excursion (included) most days of the week - you meet in the lobby at 9am and go to the falls (takes about 10 minutes). You'll want old sneakers or water shoes to walk up the falls. Just check with the concierge to make sure there are cruise ships in port, otherwise the place will be packed. And another must if you haven't done it, is take the catamaran trip the resort offers - leaves at about 3:30pm most days. The most important this is to RELAX & ENJOY!! It's all good!

We just got back from CTI. I wore capri's for the horseback ride and I had water shoes similar to sneakers that worked for both the horseback ride and Dunn's River. Water shoes a must for Dunn's River. We liked that so much we did it twice. We loved the Hobie Cat rides, we had a resort person go with us. The Catamaran cruise was fun too. Make sure you reserve that and horseback a few days ahead, they book up quick. We did not have a mini bar. We went through a local guide and did an ATV up the mountain, White River tubing, Coyaba Garden and Fern Gully. All very much fun to do also if you like that sort of thing.

I can't remember the gentleman's name, but he's the manager of the fitness center, and he takes you for a walk up in the hills behind the resort. He escorts you the entire way, and will take you to some very interesting sites. Your shoes might get a little damp and/or muddy, and it's a nice, moderately strenuous walk. (Maybe more so, since DH and I are pretty active and we pushed him a bit. LOL.)

Definitely do it. It's a great experience. We went 3x during our week.

Thanks Vee, and like I said, we intend to partake in these two activities at least once each. Not sure if we'll get multi-opportunities tho, being there is so much we want to do: DRF, ziplines, horseback riding, cat cruise, watersports, games and other in-resort activities, visiting CSS via the TP prgram. All this plus setting aside time to take advantage of the $350 in spa credits. Whew, somebody stop me!!!

One thing tho after reading his thread and that's to make sure we pack a pair of our grubbier sneakers for the hikes and horseback riding. Didn't have them on my list of stuff to bring, but they're on there now.
