In an email sent Tuesday, Air Jamaica CEO Bruce Nobles reassured agents and customers that they can book the airline with confidence.

"Our operations will continue as usual, as we prepare for the transition of Air Jamaica and Caribbean Airlines to one stronger Caribbean airline," Nobles wrote.

Caribbean Airlines is scheduled to take over Air Jamaica on April 30. The transition period may take up to a year, said Nobles.

"Customers will not see any visible difference during the initial transition period," he added.

Air Jamaica’s spring schedule that took effect April 12 calls for 161 weekly flights between Jamaica and Baltimore, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Philadelphia and Toronto.

Neither Caribbean Airlines nor Air Jamaica has said if the Air Jamaica brand will be phased out.
