Default How many at Passionate level received an upgrade?

We are at the Passionate level now for Romance Rewards. We are planning to book our next trip soon and my question is this - how many of you at that level received an upgrade in their room?

Since the new RR program was implemented in April 2007, we've visited Couples seven times, visiting all four resorts. We have never received an upgrade, but we never book the least expensive room, so we limit the possibility of an upgrade (e.g., at CN, we stayed in a beachfront room; the only possible upgrade would be to put us into a suite, and there are only 18 suites at CN). From anecdotal information appearing on this MB, it seems that most guests who received an upgrade booked the lowest category room.

How many actually get the t-shirts and departure snack and cooler? I am hoping to get those this next time since we didn't this time. I don't think I would really want an upgrade though. We book the rooms we want so we are happy with them already. We usually stay at CSA and book the Atrium suite and once the Beachfront Suite. An upgrade from that would put us into the newer rooms which we really don't want. It would be a downgrade for us. Are you able to decline the upgrade if they offer it?

We're only at the lowest rewards level but we got the t-shirts and departure snack this time. We pre-registered a couple of weeks ahead.

When we get to passionate level... next year probably, we will ask about an upgrade when we arrive and see what happens.

...so if we go to CSS and book a penthouse suite, would we get upgraded to the cottage?

    ENJOY!!!

We got neither on the trip we just returned from - no departure snack and no upgrade.

For the first time ever, though, we had our repeaters' gifts (and the gift shop and spa credits) there waiting for us on arrival, so things are improving.

FWIW, we were booked in an Atrium and felt the same way you do, melody (wouldn't want an upgrade unless it was to one of the big wraparound porch rooms). And we didn't get one, so we didn't have to cross that bridge.

We've been upgraded twice since we hit the passionate level and also have 2coolers now. Everything depends upon what's open & available. Couples does their best to accommodate and follow through. Ask upon arrival/check in. Regarding the cooler, our next trip, we will not be taking one home... Razzl

I was told at CTI, that since we had booked the Premier room, they couldn't possibly offer us an upgrade. No departure snack or cooler either. Not a deal breaker but it's a bit confusing.

I am not sure that the "free upgrade" is a sensible add on to the top level of the rewards programme as it seems it is rarely provided. On that basis it should be replaced by some other reward, what might that be? Private meal on the beach? extra resort credit if upgraded room not available...any other ideas. The rewards programme is fantastic I am not knocking it, but if a reward is advertised it should be available or an alternative offered.

I would love a second "Couples Massage" if an upgrade is not available. Have to agree it usually isn't.

we received the upgrade this past April. first time for us. however we do travel when the resort is near capacity so we totally understand.they were out of departure packs this year. no big deal we have two already and just took a bokkle of wata.

Thanks for the responses. We were there in April and did receive the departure snack. We didn't receive it on our previous trip. We are getting ready to book again and will probably go with our favorite, the Garden Verandah Suite. After reading Randy's post, I sure hope we get the Garden Verandah Suite in the new section as opposed to a Garden Verandah Suite in the old section. I like a bathtub!

It states that upgrades are based on availability. Book the room you want is generally the best idea. I other words, don't book thinking you will be upgraded.

We have always received our Repeaters' Perks above and beyond at CTI. As another posted we registered before arrival. I don't know if that is what makes the difference or not. We got t-shirts, sparkling wine, fruit plate and departure snack and bag.

No departure snack/cooler for us yet... after 4 trips... disappointing since it's to be given according to the program. At this point I'd buy it just to get one!

We've been at the passionate level for awhile now and have not received an upgrade, but it does say on the rewards "if available" and we go during spring when the resort is pretty full. We have gotten the other rewards though, no problem. I'm sure if you let them know prior to departure that you have not received your shirts or other things yet they will try to get them for you.

extra resort credit if upgraded room not available
This is a GREAT idea as a complement to the free upgrade perk!

New to this level this year and hoping. Booked a Premier room at CTI, so not expecting anything better than that.

    Hello Everyone,

Thank you for letting me know about this. To take it one step further, can you all please respond here with the resort you went to, the month/year of your trip, and what reward you didn't receive (upgrade excluded, as its based on availability). Thank you so much for your help. We will continually try to improve upon the execution of the program.
    Regards,

    Hi Seandyman,
You may also want to get people to indicate whether or not they pre-registered.

We went to CN in April/2010. We pre-registered. We received all of our rewards.

    ENJOY!!!

    Hi Sean,
We did not receive the departure snack pack on our last visit to CSA on April 17th. I'm not complaining, just providing you with this information because you asked for feedback.

We tried to check in online before we got there but we were out of town and the internet connection we were getting was not good enough. I tried again at three airports on the way there and it just kept timing out. I couldn't even log in.

We were at CSA at the end of April this year and did not get t-shirts, departure snack or champagne for our honeymoon. We were also not allowed to trade places. I asked about all these things but the response I got was either that they would get those things right to us (champagne), that it was not available to us (trading places) and confusion like they had no idea what I was talking about (t-shirts and snack). It was weird because we got the massage gift certificates and repeaters dinner invitation right away when we arrived. It's not like this is a HUGE deal but it is disappointing. It's nice to have things like a shirt or a cooler at home to remind you of your trip, especially when it was from your honeymoon. I was really counting on the snack though. I didn't realize it came in a neat cooler until I got back. We did not have time to get food before we left but I thought we would be ok because of the snack. I wasn't able to get anything to eat or drink until I got to the terminal which was hours later. Since I have some medical conditions that require me to eat regularly I was worried things were going to get really bad when I was waiting in the immigration line. It's not like we are all bent out of shape about it. I don't want to sound like I am complaining about something so small. I will just make sure to bring something with me next time in case they are out of snacks again.

We traveled to CTI in Oct 2009, we are at the passionate level. We did not receive a room upgrade (we were in a garden suite). We received our Tshirts when checking in. We received our gift shop credit and massage vouchers the next day after I asked for them. The sparkling wine and cheese/fruit tray were delivered to our room the 3rd night. We did not receive a departure snack or check when checking out (I did not inquire about them).

I forgot to mention we also pre-registered about 3 weeks in advance.

We were at CSA in April and preregistered a few weeks before. When we arrived, everything was waiting for us - t-shirts, (one was the wrong size, but they didn't have the correct size in stock), resort and spa credits and repeaters packet. When we checked out, they have us our snack, which was surprised to received, since I had forgotten about it.

Not a RR perk, but I did have to go back down to the office to get a user name/login to use the internet in my room. It would have been nice if that was given at check-in.

We were at CSA from 4/10/10 - 4/17/10. We did pre-register for the massage oil and candles I think.

We got a welcome packet, but it had t-shirts instead. Since it wasn't what we registered for, the sizes were not ones that fit us (well, my husband's fits me. Mine is a size I haven't worn since the 5th grade). The gift shop credit slip was also missing. We worked with the front desk to get the gift shop certificate. They said they showed it was in there, so they gave us one with "duplicate" written on it. No big deal. Kept meaning to go exchange the shirts, but never got around to it.

Upon departure, we did get the departure bag/snacks, but not the 100.00 check. I didn't bother asking about it because it made me uncomfortable. We did end up getting it in the mail about 2 weeks later. Perhaps that's the norm, I don't know. If so, you should let people know so they don't do what I did and have an inner battle of "do I ask about it? Will I look greedy? I should let them know the program is flawed though. No, I can't do it."

Overall, the rewards are nice, but honestly, if they can't be consistantly managed, then all it does is create expecations that are often not fulfilled. I didn't really care about getting the stuff, but I knew enough to know I was supposed to get it, and it annoyed me a little that I pre-registered for nothing, that we had to make an extra trip about the gift shop credit, and that I was left to wonder about the departure check. Again, all of which, if they did away with, I'd be cool wiht that too...I don't want it to sound like I HAVE to have my stuff.

re: the gift shop credit. When we went to use it we were told that since what we were getting wasn't for the exact amount of the credit, we would have to put the items on my credit card and then hand in the slip at checkout to have the card credited. I am guessing someone's purchase is almost never the exact amount of the credit and 99.99% of the time, the guest has to work it out on departure. If that's the case, why not just do away with the slip and make it all a part of the checkout process?
