Default ATTN: TENNIS PLAYERS and Lovers of Couples Jamaica

Help provide the opportunity for young Jamaicans to learn and love the game of tennis. Pierre Battaglia, GM at San Souci, along with a group of dedicated individuals and Couples guests, in cooperation with Tennis Jamaica, are building a small tennis complex for youth players from 76 area schools in the Ocho Rios area. As kids discover the love for the game, the complex will ensure that they have courts to learn and play.

Currently the Ocho Rios Junior Tennis Association has to rely primarily on the San Souci resort for court time and it is always subject to availability and resort needs for access. It is difficult at best, to develop a program that teaches the game and keeps the interest of the kids when courts are not readily available.

In the past, racquets, shoes and tennis clothing were sufficient to support the effort, but the time has come to help develop a tennis center. The land has been allocated in the Drax Hall Sports Complex. The land use and court drawings have been approved. We are ready to build and this is where we need your help through financial contributions. The build is 100% privately funded.

We have set up a contribution page at YouCaring.com http://www.youcaring.com/other/help-...jamaica/203326 and a Facebook page with photos ... http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fund-J...70?sk=timeline. All funds go towards the building and maintenance of the new facility. Every contribution matters.

Tennis is a great sport we all love that develops character, integrity and is a way to deflect the negative influences that impact today's youth. Help us help them and make the new tennis complex in Ocho Rios a reality.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Many thanks to those who've donated so far. We have a big hill to climb but with the support of the Couples family, we will get there.

We are reaching out to a number of big names in tennis, hoping to broaden our exposure. We posted a couple of new photo's on the Facebook page. Please share the links with all your tennis friends and acquaintances. The links are in the original post and below.

As part of the effort to raise funds for the new tennis complex, we are reaching out to the Couples family to spread the word. We know many companies do a charitable match of contributions, we know many of you are part of organized and casual tennis in your home towns and we know many of you love Jamaica. Here is a chance to be a part of something that has an impact on the kids from the island you love.

Please take a minute and forward the Facebook and YouCaring page links to those who can help move the needle and make contributions. Help us get the word out via your Facebook network, Twitter and other social media you use. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fund-J...70?sk=timeline ... http://www.youcaring.com/other/help-...jamaica/203326.

You can reach us directly at jamaicajrtennis@outlook.com if you need more info to facilitate an employer match or work a fundraiser with your tennis group or association. All financial contributions are welcome. This is a long term project with a lasting impact on the youth of Jamaica so lets get the contributions flowing. Thanks in advance for your help.Name: tennis2.jpg

An idea: with the group tennis lessons at CSA and CSS, maybe have an OPTIONAL requested donation of 1USD/lesson to go directly to this initiative? Guests shouldn't be pressured of course, but I - and I think many others - would chip in happily. This might gain more exposure for the project, as not all guests are on this message board/go onto charitable giving web sites. Very pleased that Mr B is leading this cause. :-)
