Thread: Buying wedding dress online

Hi Guys,

I'm getting married at CSA in May 2010. I've found a few dresses I like online. Has anyone purchased their wedding dress online? I'm sorta skeptical about buying it online but found one dress I LOVE!! I think the company maybe out of China but I'm not to sure. Has anyone purchased their wedding dress online before? What was your experience with buying your wedding dress online?

I did actually purchase mine online. I purchased it about 2 weeks ago. They had informed me that it would take 2 weeks before they could ship it out. I used DHGate which I think they have a good step up. The dress company does not get their money that I paid until I get the dress and am satisfied with it. If there is a problem I can get my money back through them. I don't know I could not find one in the stores that I liked and just surfed the net one day and BAM there it was.....So I am hoping to get the dress within the week.

I too, saw my perfect dress on ebay, and it was from china.

It was exactly like the picture when i received it, and i was over the moon!

Mine was made to my measurements, but it was a bit tight!

I have enclosed the original picture from ebay, and a picture of me on my wedding day in the dress.

I paid £14.95 for my dress and £57 shipping to the UK.

The best advice i can give you is if it is made to measure, be very generous with your measurements, and then take it to a seamstress, it is better to be too big than too small!

All in all, i was amazed and delighted with my dress, and i have received many compliments on it, no-one can believe the price!

I got my dress online too and it turned out a lot better than I expected. Well, I sent them pictures and drawings of my dream dress and have them custom made it. The company I used is based in China, just be very careful to pick a reputable and reliable company. The quality varies dramatically and you've probably heard enough horrible stories about brides purchasing gowns online. There are a few useful online gown shopping hints I can share with future brides, but too tired right now... I'll get around doing it later.
In the mean time, check out local stores like Jessica McClintock and Group USA. They have many cute dresses for destination brides and are very reasonably priced.

I bought mine at Dillards online..they have a wedding dept. which is perfect for a beach wedding.
The dress was much prettier than I expected, it arrived in 2 days, and it fit like a glove. It also photographed beautifuly. I wanted simple, and light for a destination wedding, since we were married on the beach, I didn't want too formal, I wore barefoot pearl sandles, and carried an all white and cream Orchid bouquet..seriously check out Dillards.com perfect beach wedding dresses. Oh and the best part was that I packed it in my carry on, it didnt have a wrinkle on it.

I ordered my dress from an online store too! I saw the dress I wanted, but couldn't find it in a store. I ordered about a month ago, and shipped a couple days ago. I am SOOO excited to get it. I'll let you know how it turns out

BtW..I only paid 145.00..and it arrived in 2 days.

I bought my dress online at www.dhgate.com It's kind of like ebay for vendors in China. You pay for the dress in advance but the seller doesn't get paid until you confirm you approve of the item you received.

My dress was exactly like the picture online and I LOVE IT. I saved hundreds and I'm so happy with the quality

I received my dress from www.queenisagirl.com It is a mon cheri dress that lists for $500-$600. I got it for $250

I absolutely LOVE it. Exactly like the pic and excellent quality. I'll post pics on my wedding site soon.

I actually ordered 2 dresses. Since they were so cheap ,it was like two for the price of one. I like both of them, now I need to decide which one to keep. I ordered standard sizes so that I could return. One was from Helenebridal.com. Attached are pics. The first two are the same dress. The 3rd picture is the second dress. I guess since my wedding isn't until April, I have some time to decide! I'll just sell the dress I don't keep on Craigs list or ebay

Hi Jamie - Both my dresses took about 6 weeks. Then about 2 days to get to my house after being shipped. (The website said 20 - 25 working days)

I like the first one too! As soon as I saw it on the website, I knew I wanted it. I went to 4 difference bridal shops and couldn't find anything close. Figured I gamble on the website and if it was terrible I'd only be out $200.

When is your wedding? Where are you getting married?

I went to a local bridal store found a similar dress for 849.00..tried it on to make sure the style complimented my curves...which it did...then I got online and found the same dress for 159.00!!! We are getting married 02/28/2011...We arrive 02/24/2011 at CTI....only 8 more months!!! ***Are you going to "Trash The Dress?"...I've seen a lot of great pics from brides that did...very romantic and unique!! anyway, how will you know if it fits you?

I went with a standard size 8. I wear a 6...but you can always have a dress taken in....I tried on a dress that was the same style. Every dress that I have tried on in the shops fit...and where do you think they order them from??? If you get really creative you can go to your favorite dress shop, try on a dress, write down the name of the designer, style # and then search for it online....a lady I work with did that…she got a 1200.00 for 600.00…but that is more than I want to spend….so I shopped by style not designer….for $159.00 it’s a chance worth taking!!!!

I bought my dress online, and must admit I was very very nervous. The web site stated 26 days to be made and a further 7 days for shipping. It arrived in 10, in the UK!

They have some lovely wedding dresses. I am soo pleased with it, it is beautifully made and fits like a glove. Go for it, just order in plenty of time in case you need to get it altered in any way.

Milanoo.com also has VERY affordable dresses. Most around $150. I have a big bust so I plan to order mine in a general size to fit up top and then have it taken in around the waist.
