Hi Ladies! I'm thinking about what to put in my giftbags for Guests as they arrive at the resort.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Meg,
Just returned from CSS for my son's wedding, and we had a girls night bridal shower before we left. I made up toy sand bucket survival kits for us gals that were going and had the following in it: A razor, wet wipes, aspirin, bug spray, one of those great battery operated hand held fans, zip loc bags, ketchup packets, a few clothes pins(for if you don't want your bathing suit landing in the middle of the buffet),SPF chapstick, a trashy novel, a shot glass, a cozy for drinks, an ankle bracelet, and a "Jamaican lingo for Dummies" little book I put together.(Hilarious!)
    Have fun with it!!

Jamaican Lingo For Dummies??!!! That is awesome! I'm jealous!! How did you make that?

I also found some really cute/cheap favors at these websites
    www.favorideas.com
    www.orientaltrading.com
    www.islandweddingshop.com

I like the starfish coaster set and bottle opener too.

other gift ideas i have heard of are: waterproof camera, travel candles, picture frames, etc.

    Momofthegroom,

Thank you for the gift ideas. We are putting together two bags, one for my Made of Honor and one for his Best Man. We have come up with some pretty cool things, but I love the Jamaican for dummies idea!

Anyone else have any other ideas as what can go in these gift bags?

    Thanks again,

    Brandi

The "Jamaican Lingo for Dummies" was just something I started playing with. You can google Jamaican lingo and an entire language comes up. Pick some words or phrases that are funny or appropiate for your trip, like "See you in da lights"(See you tomorrow), word process them all, throw some tropical pictures in, run off the pages and bind them in a cover with twine. We had alot of fun with them.

Hi Jamaicabridemeg! I leave in 2 days for CSA and my wedding is Oct 2nd. I have 16 other guests joining us on 10/1. I have 3 bridesmaids and 2 groomsmen. For the girls I got these beautiful jewelry boxes from things remembered with their initials engraved on the inside and for my 2 groomsmen (who are my brothers) I got these really cute valet charging stations from things remembered w/ their initials engraved on the front and the top has a place for a pic and I put a pic of my brothers and I when we were 1,5 and 6, it's a real funny pic.

All of the guests, including those in the wedding party, will get gift bags with a fan, coasters, a candle shaped like a 3 tiered wedding cake adorned with seashells and other beach items, luggage tags with a seashell on the case, a small drawstring beach bag filled with candy and a photo album made of recyled paper (so it has a real natural look) that has a seashell/starfish and something else on the front, on the inside cover I wrote a special note to everyone and included 2 of our engagement pics. I don't think my descriptions sound good but they are really cute!

I went to Michael's and got these brown bags and the tissue is the color of our wedding. I put together one of the bags and it looked SO cute! Even my fiance thought they were nice...and he doesn't like anything "cute"! I have one small suitcase full of just the gifts! Lucky for us I bought our tickets a month before the rules changed and we each can check 2 bags at no cost.

The sites recommended above are great too...here's another one to check out:

    I hope this helps...Congratulations!!!

Jamaicabridemeg. Congratulations. I am getting married November 7, 09 at CSA and I had a Pre-party with our friends that are joining us as well as about 30 other well wishers. I gave each of the couples a tie dyed beach bag, 2 travel candles, a small photo frame shaped like a cocktail drink in a hurricane glass. I have more "surprises" but I know some of them are out on the board reading, so I will have to disclose it later, or email me and I'll tell you about the other tricks up my sleeve when we arrive.

Congratualtions!! We attended my nieces wedding in Jamaica last year and she handed out bags and they were awesome. The bag itself was a mesh bag (girls had pink and boys had black) that we could take onto the beach. In the bag was the following: a colored laminated map of negril beach, a beach towel embroidered w/their names and the date of the wedding (it was hot pink and we all used them on the beach so we could tell where other guests were sitting), a basic plastic straw that she tied an artificial flower to (very pretty), trial sized sunblock and bug spray, and an insulated mug. Oh yeah and she also included little packs of crackers, peanuts, cookies. Came in handy for the munchies. Her signifigant other handed out little purples pipes that he brought from the states. He made it very clear that we were supposed to use it to smoke tobacco. LOL. It was AWESOME.

Our bags are super simple. We were working on a small budget and also didn't want our guests to have to haul too much stuff back.

We have a total of 6 guests (3 couples):

The bags are the canvas kind you can re-use at the grocery store. None of our guests live in areas where they would use a beach bag again so we hope this will be reusable for them.

Each guest has a customized shirt (i.e. mother of the bride, ect.)

Each bag contains a first-aid kit with a sticker that has our logo on it.

    Sunblock

Mini hand-sanitizers and lotions from bath and body works.

Mini Tide spot cleaning and detergent packs.

We'll also have a couple kinds of special chocolate from a local store I haven't picked up yet.

Total cost for the bags (including 1 for us) just over $100

We did a gift bag for our guests at CN, it included:
    Small sunscreen
    chapstick with SPF
    candles
    picture frame
disposable camera (for them to use and have during the trip-looking back a waterproof disposable camera would have been even better)
    lotion
CD we made with songs from the wedding and just some fun beach music
