Guest Spotlight Series: Mr. & Mrs. Lubarksy

Carrie: How many times have you been to Couples Resorts, and which properties?.
Art & Francine: We've enjoyed 27 Visits to Couples Resorts... 4 trips to Couples Ocho Rios (now Tower Isle) and 23 trips to Couples Negril.

Carrie: How has Couples played a role in your personal love story?
Art & Francine: We first visited Couples in Ocho Rios in 1984 . It was love at first sight.... We could not believe this was for real! This was our first Caribbean vacation and it was magical. At that time Couples was the only all-inclusive of it's kind. There was one wedding at the resort that week (new concept at that time) and we thought what an absolutely romantic and unique idea. When we returned home we decided that we would return in 1985 and have our wedding Couples, which we did and it was everything we hoped for and more. Although we eloped and it was just the two of us, the staff posted our wedding announcement on the daily activities blackboard and almost everyone at the resort attended our wedding, including many staff members. Some guests came in bathing suits right off the beach, some dressed to the nines, and there were many others "in between".... It was far more special than we anything we could have hoped for, and is a treasured "Couples" memory that will stay with us forever..

After we visited Couples (Ocho Rios) two years in a row, friends and family back home kept insisting we should expand our horizons and visit other resorts (I'm sure the majority of repeaters have heard the same) .... so we did, we tried other islands, and other resorts in Jamaica, as well as one cruise. We enjoyed all these other trips but always felt the pull to return to Couples .... we revisted Couples Tower Isle for our 15th and 16th anniversaries and it was every bit as wonderful as we remembered.... Along the way we stayed at another resort in Negril back in 1995 and 1996.... at that time this was the only resort at Bloody Bay, the rest of 2 mile beach was just jungle and virgin beach. Several years later we were itching to try Couples Negril, which we finally did in November of 2004..... when we arrived at the resort we thought "well this is very nice" ... then we looked over the rail in the lobby and thought "we've found paradise"....... The rest as they say is history... we fell head over heels in love with the beach at Couples Negril, combine that with the warm and friendly staff as well as the delicious food, and the romantic nights. Each time we go we say "this is the best trip ever".

Carrie: What are the top three pieces of advice you would give to a first-time guest at Couples?
Art & Francine:
1. Go to orientation.
2. Be prepared to be pampered.
3. Get ready to book your return visit.

Carrie: In your opinion, what makes Couples so unique?
Art & Francine: Couples Resorts are all about laid-back romance. Couples was the originator of this concept and they know how to make a couple feel relaxed and pampered and offer the perfect atmosphere to fall in love with your partner over and over again.

Carrie: In a single word, describe what Couples means to the two of you.
Art & Francine: B L I S S

Carrie: Which staff members or fellow guests do you most look forward to seeing when you return?
Art & Francine: This is a very difficult question. We have been fortunate to have met so many wonderful people during our many visits over the years. We have made many life-long friends, and keep in touch with many throughout the years. There have been couples where we just kept running into each other by chance at the resorts; and there are other couples with whom we coordinate our return trips together... In the spring we especially look forward to spending our CN vacation with our good friends Chris and Beth, and in the fall we looking forward to spending CN time with our friends Raymond and Rhonda... and we love re-visiting and enjoying all that Couples has to offer.
We love to see the familiar faces of friends on staff, starting with getting warm welcome hugs upon arrival from Onique, Kemar, Herbert, and Franklin.... then we run over to see how Deston is doing, and of course we always go into the gift shop to see or friends - Keon, Ester, Kerry Ann. and Kenton, as well as all the other wonderful folks; and we are always kept entertained by Nelka (Nellie), OKENO, Shawna, Sanya, Bellard, and Deen; and the Lovely Camecia keeps things moving smoothly in Cassava.. Always have to give a special shout out to the great folks at the bar, including IVY, Elkie, Amay, Sharlette, Lindon, Omar, Tennyson, Charles, Denva, Tanesha, FLOY, Amanda,Camille, Meesha, Sheryl, Jermaine; and we can't forget the fabulous Denver Bremmer and Marlon, and all the great staff at the restaurants, as well as Keneil England and Jovane, and Carl, and all the guys at watersports. Although we miss seeing Sherine's beautiful smile at breakfast, we know the new veggie bar is in very good hands with Sherine there, she is awesome. We look forward to seeing Everod at night and love sharing a joke or two. And it's always a pleasure to see General Manager Wayne Williams, a true gentleman.
When we trade places to CSA, we love to see Karen Lanigan, Konrad Malcolm, Brian P, and Carlos....There are so many folks at Couples that have such special places in our hearts and there are just too many to name; and this is why we spend much of our vacation giving and receiving warm hugs and catching up... It really is wonderful.

Carrie: Fill in the blank: Our ideal day at Couples consists of _____________
Art & Francine: Waking up early to watch the day unfold while we await our in-room "pre breakfast" ... then we love to head to "our spot" on the beach and share a bubbly toast to paradise, somedays we splurge and enjoy the great couples massage in the beach hut, then meander on over to breakfast at Cassava (which Nelka has made even more special by having musicians a couple of times a week).... then we go back to the beach, enjoy more bubbly, visit with old and new friends alike.... take a walk with just us two, and visit with vendors and musicians on the beach.... It's usually time for a "proper cocktail" before lunch over at the beach bar where we visit with yet more friends.... then our big decision is do we want to have lunch at Cassava Or the Beach Grill Or the New Veggie Bar - you just cannot make a bad decision there.... then we have a little nap in the shade on the beach.... watch a game of beach v-ball, visit w/more friends and make the all important decision of where to dine for dinner and where to have our next cocktail.... Then we dance the night away and sing as we make our way back to our room to rest up to start the same lovely routine all over again.... Each day at Couples Negril is the BEST day (and night) EVER!! And along the way, we stop and count our blessings and gently pinch each other and say "are we really that fortunate that we are actually here again Or are we both sharing the same dream"? It's ALL good!!

Art and Francine, thank you so much for sharing your love for Couples with us!
