Share the Love: Love Yourself

Hello Couples family, and happy February!

As we hop in to the month of romance, what better time to embrace the season and celebrate love? This month the CRO column will explore various facets of love, including loving yourself, your significant other, others/community, and the idea of leaving a legacy of love. Watch the full introductory video here:

As discussed in the video above, this week we are exploring ways you can "Share the Love" with you, yours truly. Although true love is selfless and a team effort, I encourage you to take time for YOU this month. After all, a confident, happy mate is the best mate, right? Top 10 ways to love YOU this month:

1. Make a list of things you would like to accomplish this month, and each week, check in with yourself. Make your partner accountable as well for extra support. (Example: Have you been keeping up with your New Year Resolutions?). Set due dates to help you stay on track.

2. Pamper yourself. Whether it's a mani/pedi or a massage, treat yourself to some good ole fashioned "me" time.

3. Write down 10 positive affirmations about yourself and be honest. No need to keep the humble you inside on this one. Shower yourself with some well deserved compliments.

4. I once had a friend do a classy boudoir photo shoot just for her eyes only, and I loved the concept. Now ladies, this could be a way to love yourself, but I'm sure all the husbands out there would agree they would love to love on you as well.

5. Have a "me" night. Whether you order in dinner, draw yourself a candlelit bath or hole up in bed with a good book, take time that is yours and only yours to rest and recharge.

6. Buy yourself that little something you've been eyeing.

7. Make time to reconnect with a good friend who you haven't seen in a while. Whether a phone call, Skype date or coffee get-together, you'll be surprised at how much that will reenergize you.

8. Take a stroll through Memory Lane and reminisce about great moments in your life (graduations, wedding, children, etc.) and be thankful. A thankful heart is a gorgeous heart.

9. This may sound silly, but try and see yourself through the eyes of your dog or cat. They see you down to your core, and they think you're the most wonderful person in the world. And, they are right.

10. Lastly, choose to believe and live out this quote by Matthew Barnett. "It doesn't take a person with unusual training or ability to change the world. All it takes is a heart that cares, a mind that's determined, a spirit that's willing, a cause that matters, and a person to help." Adopt this simple formula and be the best you possible.

Until next week, Carrie
