Ten surprising things couples do to spice up their relationship.

In a world where the TV, smart phone and social media rule any spec of downtime you may have, it is increasingly important to focus on ways to keep the spark alive with some spice and romance.

Below I’ve outlined ten surprising ways couples can reignite romance in their relationships.

1. Ditch the TV in the bedroom.
This is a big one. 900 channels mean 900 potential distractions to take your focus off your husband or wife. Ditch the clicker and focus on the “bed” in bedtime.

2. Slip into something less comfortable.
After a long day, the last thing you want to do is put on your lipstick and slip on your high heels for when you see your husband. But, fight the temptation to loosen your tie and kick off your work shoes, gents. Ladies, pull yourself together to look your best for your husband when you see him for dinner. Making the effort shows you care about yourself and how you present yourself to one another.

3. Learn a new skill or find a new hobby you can enjoy together.
Reignite fun and imagination in your relationship by tackling a new hobby you both enjoy. Whether it be sweating it out together on hikes, bike riding around town or brushing up on your amateur sommelier skills, do so together and make time each week to partake.

4. Work it out.
The couple that sweats together, stays together. Not only do you get the endorphins pumping, but working out also makes you more self-confident which will help move things along when it’s time for alone time.

5. Send love letters.
Hand-written notes and letters are such a rarity these days. Make the extra effort to write her a love letter and mail it so she sees it when she opens the mail. Ladies, place sticky notes on his side of the bathroom or in his briefcase so he’s surprised by your thoughtfulness during his daily routine.

6. Reminisce: Watch your wedding video / look at your wedding album.
Remember that wedding you paid a fortune for? Bust out the photo album or put the VHS/DVD in the player and make it a memorable wedding night all over again. Make dinner together, open up a bottle of wine, and take a stroll down memory lane while you celebrate one another and your overall love story.

7. Take “me” time.
People who are confident in themselves, are more confident as part of a couple. Be sure you’re looking inward to align with personal goals so you can be the best version of yourself for you and your spouse.

8. Revisit the honeymoon days for date ideas.
What was your first date? Where did you have your first kiss? Create fun and exciting date ideas around those initial memories to keep the romance and fun alive and well.

9. Make a bucket list together.
Sit down with each other and make a list of all the things you would like to accomplish. Talk through them together and create an actionable list with ideal completion dates as you work through your dreams and ambitions as a couple.

10. Make out.
You heard me. It’s fun . . . it’s passionate. . . and, it’s fun. Go get ‘em.

One love,
Carrie
